Always check the weather forecast, even from multiple sources. It never hurts to ask for advice from someone who knows the mountains better.

Estimate an average hiking trail time based on your fitness level and that of the other members of your group.

Let the mountain huts or those waiting for you at home know your estimated arrival or return time.

Stay alert! As you hike, keep an eye on trail numbers and follow the markers, but don't forget to take in the beauty of nature around you!
